The Sci-Fi genre is alive and well. 21 days after Netflix released Altered Carbon, the streaming service offered another neo-noir, cyberpunk original featuring a hot Swede as the lead. Alexander Skarsgard is the main character in this Duncan Jones film, about a mute bartender who lost his voice due to an accident when he was little. Coming from an Amish family, “Leo” was not able to get the surgery he needed to repair his vocal cords and as a result, lost his ability to speak. Now an adult, he bartends and carves wood and the movie really begins when he realizes his girlfriend has vanished without a trace.
Pilgrimage recently released in the UK July 3rd, available in select theaters, as well as DVD/Blu-Ray and digital HD. For us US viewers, we will have to wait until August 11th to get our turn to view the Irish film. Admittedly, I streamed this movie online, because I absolutely did not want to wait. Don’t worry though, I fully plan on purchasing Pilgrimage once it becomes available in the Google Play Store in August.
The Walking Dead and The Punisher star Jon Bernthal is known for playing badass characters. From Shane Walsh, to Frank Castle and his roles in other films such as Fury and The Accountant, Bernthal usually is the guy with the less than reputable morals. Yesterday, the trailer for his latest project Pilgrimage dropped and Bernthal has gone Medieval.
