Marvel has been releasing a lot of trailers recently. Jessica Jones S2, Deadpool 2, Avengers: Infinity War, and Black Panther. All badass. The latest teaser to be released today was Sony’s Venom movie, starring Tom Hardy. Taking place, supposedly; within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we’ve looked forward to seeing how the studio would pull off a film about the well-known symbiote. This morning we got our first look and it was…meh.
I’ve been a fan of Tom Hardy since before he played Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. I know Hardy brings 110% to every performance and I know he’s been dedicated to giving fans a decent rendition of Eddie Brock. So, where’s the disconnect? Venom has been pretty under wraps, with pictures posted here and there and a somewhat vague interview.
With so many upcoming Marvel (and other) projects releasing trailers, Sony’s Venom hardly generated any sort of excitement from me. I was extremely happy to see a trailer released at all, but I found myself slowly frowning as each second went on. Hopefully, they’ll release another one that gives us more and helps the fans register enthusiasm for the new movie.
Venom will hit theaters October 5, 2018.
